Driving on the Descartes
Full Description
Astronaut John W. Young, Apollo 16 mission commander, drives the
"Rover", Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV) to its final parking place near the
end of the third extravehicular activity (EVA-3) at the Descartes
landing site.
Astronaut Charles M. Duke Jr., Lunar Module pilot, took this photograph
looking southward. The flank of Stone Mountain can be seen on the
horizon at left. The shadow of the Lunar Module "Orion" is visible in
the foreground.
