Cosmonaut Pavel Popovich is shown in a still picture during his Vostok 4 mission on August 12 to 15, 1962. Vostok 4 launched 1 day after Vostok 3. The goal of Vostok 3/4 was to have the two spacecraft pass closely by each other while in orbit to prepare for long-range plans of a rendezvous in space. While in space the cosmonauts in the two spacecraft never saw each other,
